Jonathan Crossley is acknowledged as one of South Africa's most versatile guitarists and musicians. He began his career focusing on the classical guitar, winning numerous awards including the Best South African Guitarist award at the Concourse Panafrique de Musique et des Arts in 1995 and was overall winner of the AKTV-Forte (Muisq) competition in the same year: the first and only guitarist ever to take this award.

In 1997 he was overall joint winner of the Classical Guitar Society of Southern Africa in 1997 along with James Grace and completed his B. Mus Wits University. During his studies he attended master classes with Eliot Fisk in Cordoba and composer/guitarist Helmut Jasbar in Vienna.

Jonathan has since enjoyed a varied career as a performing artist. Shifting his focus to jazz performance he continued with his studies with the late South African master guitarist Johnny Fourie, completing a Masters Degree (Cum Laude) documenting Fourie's career and guitar methodology. In this field Jonathan has appeared on stage with such international artists such as  Renee Olstead, Andy Narell, Oleta Adams and Gerald Albright as well as with local stars such as Paul Hanmer, Wessel van Rensburg and Marcus Wyatt amongst many others.
