Imolonji Kantu Choral Society,wich means sweet sounds of the people,was founded by George Gobingca Mxadana in soweto in 1982 to fill the void left by the incarceration of the political leadership in South Africa at the time.The choir contributed to the fight against apartheid in song,and its reperpetoire gave priority to songs of hope,unity,peace and frrdom.It earned the respect of the political and religeous communities and of the labour organisations,and was referred to as the peoples's choir.
